SPEAKER: Josh McKay
QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER FOR THIS UPCOMING SUNDAY:
In order to prepare you for next week, read Nehemiah 8 ...
-What are some of the things that stuck out to you as you read? What questions do you have
-In verse 2 it mentions Ezra came and brought the Law before the people. Read Ezra 7:1-10. Who was Ezra and qualifications did he have?
-Teaching God’s Law is the main action that takes place in this passage. What responses do you see to God’s law being read and taught? (by the people or leaders)
-Read Deuteronomy 31:10-13. The reading of the law before the whole assembly was required at the Feast of Booths in the Jubilee year (every 7 years). It had been ignored since Israel had been taken into captivity in Babylon. How does that shed light on the importance of what takes place in this chapter (vs. 13-17)?
-Have you had periods of neglect of God’s Word? What things can you put in place to guard against apathy towards God’s Word?
-The Israelites celebrate and marvel at understanding God’s Word. Take a moment and ponder anything you have learned from God’s Word recently. Celebrate and thank God for his revelation! (If you are in a group share something with another that you have learned)
